Consumers can search for a product by name, active ingredient or registration number

Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) released on Wednesday (April 24, 2024) a panel to consult the maximum prices of medicines sold in the country. Today, the list is available on the agency’s portal, and you need to download the document.

This list is updated every month and will continue to be available. According to Anvisa, the panel will “make it easier for the population to consult the maximum authorized prices” by Cmed (Chamber of Medicines Market Regulation) for the sale of medicines. It allows the medicine to be searched on the platform itself by name, active ingredient or registration number. The panel is available at this link.

Pharmacies, drugstores, laboratories, distributors and importers cannot charge an amount for medicines above the price allowed by Cmed.

In a note, Anvisa advised that, if the consumer realizes that the price of a drug is higher than permitted, send a complaint to Cmed. The complaint, stated Anvisa, contributes “for market monitoring” and inhibits “overpricing practices by establishments”.
