The blind athlete (T-12, low vision) from São Vicente in the company of her guide Jailson Oliveira once again surpassed all the competition, in a competition in which the Togolese Numedo Xana came in second place, while the Italian Mencobon Anna Maria completed the podium after finishing the race in third position.

This was the second medal won by Cape Verde in the first two days of the competition, as on Friday, the 26th, Marilson Semedo, a lower limb amputee (F-14) won the bronze medal in the javelin throw event. in this competition.

Heidilene Oliveira will also compete in the 200 meters, and later 400 meters, while Gracelino Barbosa, the most decorated Cape Verdean athlete ever, competes on Sunday in the 100 meters.

All three athletes on the Cape Verdean Paralympic team are already qualified for the Paris’2024 Paralympic Games, which is why the Cape Verdean Federation of Adapted Sports wants to take advantage of this international competition in Morocco to provide athletes with a competitive pace for the Olympics.
