A woman accused of having inspired the character of Martha in the Netflix series “Baby Reindeer” says she has received death threats.

The series, created and performed by Richard Gadd, is based on the author’s personal experiences as a victim of stalking and sexual abuse.

Gadd plays Donny, a character who is the target of a stalking obsession on the part of a woman called Martha, after having become friends with her in a bar. Donny is also sexually abused by a television producer, Darrien.

Since its debut, fans have been trying to discover the identities of the people who inspired the characters, with the woman who is said to have inspired Martha revealing that she has received death threats.

“I’m the victim here, not him,” the woman, who was not identified, told the “Daily Record”. “I received death threats because of his series, even though what he says is not true.”

The woman guarantees that she didn’t do it stalking to Gadd. “I was with him a few times,” she said. “His story is that it’s a huge violation of my privacy. I haven’t seen him in 12 years.” And he also criticized the choice of the actress to play Martha, who he claims “doesn’t look like” him.

Both Gadd and Jessica Gunning, the series’ “Martha,” asked fans not to try to discover the identities of the people who inspired the characters.
