André Villas-Boas is the new president of FC Porto
André Villas-Boas was elected the new president of FC Porto on Saturday night, dethroning Pinto da Costa, who was defeated in all polling stations. He spoke at campaign headquarters where he said he received “a lot of strength, energy and confidence”.
“I launched this campaign for our club and associates, they showed me that it was possible to be proud of FC Porto again”, he says.
“Today FC Porto is free again”, says André Villas-Boas, saying that this is the day on which a new page begins to be written at the Porto club.
The new president states that FC Porto is “the bastion of the northern region, the best club in Portugal” and adds that this is the club that everyone needs and wants. André Villas-Boas also says that he has a “long mission ahead of him”, with hard work to be done. He explains that there is “a house that has to be tidy, organized and structured”.
The former coach, who won four trophies for the ‘blue and white’ football team in the 2010/11 season, including the championship and Europa League, appeared at the polls for the first time.
