Three people died this Sunday (28), after a serious accident between two motorcycles and a car on the BR-110, near the municipality of Ribeira do Pombal, around 300 km from Salvador. They were returning from a motorcycle event that took place this weekend in Paulo Afonso, in the north of the state.
According to information from the Federal Highway Police (PRF), two victims were identified as Miqueias Souza de Jesus, aged 23, and Igor Santos Alves, aged 33. Miqueias died at the scene and Igor was taken to a hospital in the region , but he did not survive his injuries.
The third victim, an unidentified woman, died at the scene of the accident. It is not known whether the driver of the car was injured.
According to the PRF, the victims were on two high-displacement motorcycles, one of which broke in half due to the impact of the collision. Initial information indicates that one of the motorcycles collided with the car, while the other ended up overturning and was also involved in the collision.
Miqueias Souza, one of the victims, lived in Feira de Santana and was returning home accompanied by a couple of friends. “Moto Paulo Afonso”, an event in which they participated, took place between the 25th and 27th of April.
The young man even published photos and videos of high-displacement motorcycles that were at the event on social media.
Accident in the southwest of the state
A motorcycle taxi driver died and a woman was seriously injured after the motorcycle they were riding on crashed into a car this Sunday, on BA-120, near the municipality of Ibirataia, in the southwest of the state.
According to information from the State Highway Police (PRE), the man was identified as Ailton Marcos da Silva, 52 years old. The woman who was on the back of the motorcycle was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to Prado Valadares General Hospital, in Jequié. There are no details about her health status.
The driver of the car reported that he had back pain and was helped by members of the public to the Hospital Foundation in the city of Ibirataia.
The motorcycle taxi driver was from Ibirataia and was taking the passenger to a location in the Algodão district. The State Highway Police isolated the area and called the Technical Police Department (DPT) to remove the body and carry out an investigation at the scene. The cause of the accident is determined by PRE.
Another accident happened in the same region, this time on BA-650, between Ipiaú and Ibirataia. According to information from PRE, a car overturned and the driver and passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Ipiaú General Hospital. The cause of the accident was not clarified.
Accident in the western region
A motorcyclist died after losing control of the vehicle and falling into a construction site on BR-242, in Luís Eduardo Magalhães. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and confirmed his death at the scene.
According to information from the Traffic Superintendence (Sutrans), the victim was identified as Arley Santos Souza, aged 24.
