A Lusa, the author, who turns 62 years old on Tuesday, said that he lived a life of “more than 30 years on the street” in a homeless situation, and is now fully inserted into society, integrated into a ‘response’ housing first’ located in the Lisbon neighborhood of Graça.

From his first published work, “Provável Venci”, Fernando Casimiro talks about the story of his life, telling “life experiences”.

“Now I’m fully recovered, I’ve been for years. I was addicted to every drug possible”, he said, recognizing, at the same time, that he won, although he doesn’t take things for granted.

“Everyone knows that I won, me too, but there is a line, a kind of doubt for society and, therefore, we have to put a question mark, nothing is guaranteed”, he highlighted.

Fernando Casimiro also said that he doesn’t work now and spends his days “walking, walking” to gain inspiration to write, confiding that he already has more books ready, he just needs publishers to release them, as he doesn’t have the financial means to do so. .

“Now I like going for walks, before I didn’t. But there are changes in our lives, now I like writing, I’ve been writing for many, many years”, he said.

“Is this Poetry?” is a work supported by the Homeless Planning and Intervention Center (NPISA Lisboa), of the Department of Social Rights, and also by the Culture department of the Lisbon City Council and by the Municipal Press.

The launch of the book is scheduled for 3pm today, at Casa do Jardim da Estrela — Um Teatro em Cada Bairro (in Jardim da Estrela) and will be attended by the councilor for Social Rights, Sofia Athayde, as well as the entire municipal team and partners who, directly or indirectly, contributed to the writer’s social and professional rehabilitation.
