João Vinícius Ferreira Simões, 25 years old, suffered a shock when he pulled into a food truck during heavy rain at the I Wanna Be Tour festival, in the early hours of March 10th.

Coordinators and supervisors of the event, organized by the company 30e, electricians, owners and managers, as well as engineers and technical managers from Riocentro, were indicted.

“Nothing will bring my son back, but I am very grateful for the work of the police and I hope that justice is served so that no mother goes through what I have been through. I fight for punishment and supervision from public authorities at events”, said the mother of young man, Roberta Ferreira Isaac.

“Companies are responsible for the public that will watch the bands and have an obligation to offer an excellent service, because without the public that is there paying, there will be no event”, he added.

According to the delegate, dozens of people were interviewed. “We carried out on-site investigations and an important reconstruction to understand what led to what happened,” she said.

Procedural fraud was blamed on company 30e’s contractors for failing to preserve the site. Hours after João Vinícius’ death, the food trucks were removed from the site, and the entire structure dismantled.

The fact was confirmed by the victim’s mother, who went to the scene shortly after her son’s death to photograph clues that could explain the young man’s death.

The food truck owners were not charged. According to the police, the examination showed that the truck’s electrical installations did not present any problems.
