Positive export premiums have been one of the main factors supporting soybean prices at high levels this month. The differentials between the months of May and August vary from US$ 0.15 to US$ 0.28 per bushel on contracts of the same maturity on the Chicago stock exchange, according to a survey by Sim Consult.

“The premiums are getting better. One of the reasons is that there is not as much sales pressure anymore and the second is that sea freight has also fallen and this helps to improve premiums”, says João Birkhan, CEO of Sim Consult, in a video published online.

According to the consultancy, the premium for May is US$0.15 over Chicago. For July, it is US$0.21 and, for August, US$0.28 on the stock exchange value.

“Our premiums have risen, but they are still well below American premiums, which means we can think that premiums could continue to rise. The award can still improve”, says Birkhan.

On the Chicago Stock Exchange, soybeans fell again on Friday. The July contract fell 0.21% and closed at US$ 11.77 per bushel. The accumulated result for the week, however, was an increase of 0.99%, according to a survey by Valor Data, based on the contract in second position on the panel.

In this scenario – and with the exchange rate remaining above R$5 per dollar – the indicator from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) based in the Port of Paranaguá (PR) accumulates an increase of 3.54% in the partial of the month, until Friday (26/4), when it was R$ 128.43 per 60 kilo bag.

The reference based on business in the State of Paraná increased by 4.2% in the month up to Friday, when the value was R$ 124.63 per bag. In a note, this Monday (29/4), Cepea researchers state that the April averages are already the highest of the year.

A survey by Scot Consultoria shows a bag of soybeans priced at R$ 113.25 in Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA). In Rio Verde (GO), at R$ 114.50 per bag; in Balsas (MA), at R$ 107.50; and in Triângulo Mineiro, at R$115.

At the ports, a bag of soybeans is worth R$130 in Rio Grande, in Rio Grande do Sul, and R$131 in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo.
