An artist suffered a terrible fall from the “Wheel of Death” on Saturday afternoon (27/4), at Blackpool Tower Circus, in England.

Spectators, including children, were horrified when one of the performers on the spinning device lost his balance and fell about 20 feet during the 5pm show, a spectator told the Daily Mirror.

Emergency services quickly treated the fallen artist, who was later taken to hospital. The circus tent was immediately emptied, stunned participants said after the incident. There is no information about the identity of the victim.

“Serious accident at Blackpool Tower Circus this afternoon. Circus performer fell several meters from the Wheel of Death straight into the ring. Praying all is well,” a witness posted on X (formerly Twitter).

A woman who was present with her children wished the acrobat a “speedy recovery” and praised the team for their “incredible” way of handling the situation.

“We can confirm that a member of staff at Blackpool Tower Circus suffered a minor fall whilst performing a rehearsed trick. Our medical team responded quickly with our emergency procedures and supported the performer until emergency services arrived,” a spokesperson said. from Merlin Entertainments, which runs the shows in Blackpool, adding that the acrobat is “recovering well” with injuries to his wrists.

“It’s a calculated risk and fortunately accidents are very rare. That said, these fearless performers spend many years training to perform these acts and live for the adrenaline and entertainment of the public,” said a spokesperson for Blackpool Shows and Attractions, entity that takes care of the artistic and tourist attractions of the English city.
