Agere will keep water, sanitation and waste tariffs unchanged in the municipality, despite criticism from the opposition, which considers that «all the conditions are met for Braga residents to benefit from the tariff reduction».

«We understand that there is scope, capacity to release the effort of families from Braga in view of what has been the Agere tariff», said councilor Artur Feio, adding that «we are talking about a company that releases 8 million euros in profits, being that part of this profit should be returned directly to the people of Braga», he stated.

Arguing that «investment in the new WWTP has been awaited for two years», the PS councilor considered that «we could understand that maintaining this tariff would be something that could benefit the investment».

The CDU councilor, Vítor Rodrigues, also abstained from the vote, stressing that «it is possible, on Agere’s part, to lighten the tariff prices for the services provided, with room for lowering prices».

In response, Ricardo Rio stated that «Agere’s tariffs have registered a trend, at least of stabilization, and on many occasions of decreasing, that is, during these ten years there have been several occasions in which prices have fallen, whether for the population in general, whether for specific classes of customers such as large families, social institutions, sports clubs and Parish Councils and therefore Agere’s global trend has never been one of increasing costs, but of stabilization».
