Driver suffers serious injuries after crashing into fire engine on Piracicaba highway
One 61-year-old woman was seriously injured after crashing the car she was driving into the back of a fire department truck in the early afternoon of this Monday (29). The accident occurred on the Cornélio Pires Highway (SP-127), which connects Saltinho (SP) to Piracicaba (SP), when the rescue team was returning from another service.
The woman hit a highway sign. No occupants of the fire truck were injured. The team itself helped the elderly woman, who was taken to the Sugarcane Suppliers Hospital (HFC) in Piracicaba.
Before the accident, the Fire Department truck was in Saltinho to respond to another incident of sudden illness in the city and was returning to Piracicaba when the accident occurred.
The elderly woman’s car was completely destroyed. The victim was trapped in the hardware. The vehicle doors were removed to help the woman.
