Deaths from dengue rise to 37 in the south of Minas; cases are already double the number recorded in 2023 | South of Minas

The number of dengue deaths confirmed this year in the south of Minas rose to 37. The number of cases represents more than double that recorded last year. The data are from the State Department of Health (SES-MG).

According to SES-MG, nine more deaths from the disease were confirmed this week. Varginha confirmed two more deaths, while Alfenas, Campos Gerais, Cássia, Itamogi, Itajubá, Pouso Alegre and São Lourenço each had one confirmation.

With the new confirmations, Varginha now has seven confirmed deaths from dengue, followed by Passos, which has five and Alfenas and São Lourenço, which have three.

The number of confirmed cases of the disease in the region already represents more than double what was recorded last year in the south of Minas.

According to SES-MG, the region already has 93,734 cases of the disease, +13,302 new cases compared to last week, an increase of 16.5%. Throughout 2023, there were 41,586 confirmations in the region.

Varginha continues to lead the number of confirmed cases in the region, with 14,638 records. Três Corações appears next with 5,864 records and Passos has 5,565

This week, Três Corações is the city where the number of cases increased the most. There were +1,457 notifications in the week, against +1,444 from Varginha and +1,230 from Passos.
