Correia about parliamentarians going to the USA: ‘it is urgent to join forces in the fight against fascism and fake news’

247 – Federal deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG) highlighted this Monday (29) the importance of parliamentarians from the progressive camp denouncing fake news from congressmen from the Brazilian extreme right, mainly from allies of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“At the invitation of members of the CPI on Capitol Hill, our delegation landed in the USA to join forces in the fight against facism and ‘fake news’. It is urgent to unite an international parliamentary front that can guarantee the maintenance of democracies in the world, and we , who worked hard at CPMI on January 8th, we are ready for a week of exchanging experiences and hard work in the North American Congress”, wrote the parliamentarian on one of his social networks.

Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) and some allies went to the USA this semester, to seek more support from American authorities, to remove the credibility of the Federal Supreme Court.

Criticism of the Judiciary is one of the strategies of American Steve Bannon, 69 years old. In January 2021, when Donald Trump (Republican Party) lost the election, several supporters invaded the Legislature (Capitol) and accused the electoral system of being fraudulent. The politician is supported by Bolsonaro supporters.

During his government, Jair Bolsonaro tried to convey to the population the message that the Judiciary was hindering management. He also defended the participation of the Armed Forces in determining the results of the elections.

Currently, federal police officers are investigating a coup plot supported by allies of the former president. The coup attempt included the arrest of Federal Supreme Court (STF) ministers Gilmar Mendes and Alexandre de Moraes, as well as the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG). Among the targets of the operation are Braga Netto, Augusto Heleno and Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, all generals and former advisors to Jair Bolsonaro.
