The Regional Government of the Azores (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) delivers the proposed Annual Plan and Regional Budget for 2024 to parliament today, the second it presents, after the first document was rejected in November last year.

According to the agenda released by the Azorean executive, at 3:30 pm local time (4:30 pm in Lisbon) the Regional Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, Paulo Estêvão, will deliver the proposal for the Annual Plan and Regional Budget for 2024 to the president of the Legislative Assembly from the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Luís Garcia, in the city of Horta, on the island of Faial.

According to the preliminary proposal of the document sent at the beginning of the month by the executive to the social partners for issuing an opinion, the total value of public investment remains practically unchanged in relation to what was rejected in the regional parliament.

The document foresees that the PSD/CDS-PP/PPM executive invest directly in the archipelago around 740 million euros (a value almost similar to that of the rejected proposal), which could reach 900 million euros using community funds.

According to the preliminary proposal, to which Lusa had access, the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructure will have the most funds at its disposal (around 275 million euros), but the amount of investment could amount to 320 million euros. euros if other external funds are added.

It is the second time that the regional Government led by José Manuel Bolieiro presents a preliminary proposal for an Investment Plan for this year, after the previous one was rejected in the Legislative Assembly in November, with PS, BE and IL voting against and the Chega and PAN abstained, which led the President of the Republic to call early elections.

The new PSD, CDS-PP and PPM coalition government, emerging from the early legislative elections on February 4, governs the region without an absolute majority in the Azorean parliament and, therefore, needs to negotiate the support of some parties with parliamentary seats to approve your proposals.

The Government Program was approved in March in parliament, with the favorable votes of the three parties that form the executive, the abstention of Chega, IL and PAN and the votes against of the PS and BE.

The debate and vote on the Plan and Budget proposals for 2024 is scheduled for May 21st.
