This being the 4th Championship game of the season it was the first time we had played on the 1st day. Our hosts won the toss and elected to bat.

Ben Cliff struck with the 4th ball of the day having Martindale caught at mid wicket by Alex Wade. Ben Parker then had Montgomery caught at the wicket by Joe Thompson and Nottinghamshire were 18-2.

Tom Moores made 19 from 23 balls before he too was caught behind to give trialist, Will Rogers his first wicket; 51-3. This brought former Tyke, Tom Loten to the crease and at lunch he and Liam Patterson-White had added 48 to take the total to 99-3 from 28 overs.

Patterson-White reached his half century from 79 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes and had progressed to 65 when he was smartly stumped by Thompson off Dom Bess – 138-4. Loten posted his half century from 113 balls with 4 fours but he was well caught low at square leg by Will Luxton for 62 from 121 balls. King was caught behind off Bess for 3 – 189-6.

Luke Fletcher joined Dane Schadendorf and they remained unbeaten at tea with the score 238-6, Fletcher 13 not out and Schadendorf 54 not out from 80 deliveries with 5 fours. The evening session saw them reach a century partnership from 155 balls and Fletcher reached a half century from 80 balls with 7 fours and 2 maximums. The partnership had extended to 132 when the new ball counted for Schadendorf caught at point by Owen Smith off Cliff for 88.

Luke Fletcher continued playing some big shots – he lost Hayes caught mid off by Rogers off Cliff but had reached 99 from 125 balls when Cliff claimed his 4th wicket uprooting his off stump – however he had hit 12 fours and 4 sixes. They closed the day on 377-9.
