This Monday (29), the man accused of stabbing his sister and brother-in-law to death in Capela de Santana was sentenced to 32 years and one month in prison, in an initially closed regime. Arnoldo Stroher Neto received the sentence from judge Franco Lemos Bertuzzi, from the district of Portão, who ordered him to remain in preventive detention, without the right to appeal for freedom.

The crime occurred in January 2014, when Arnoldo Stroher Neto, after a fight with his brother-in-law Lucas Rieth Bitello, delivered fatal knife blows not only to him, but also to his sister Maria Liciane Stroher, who was trying to intervene in the attack.
The argument between Arnoldo and Lucas began due to the construction of a fence between the family’s houses. The land, shared by the brothers, generated a disagreement that culminated in the tragedy.
Arnoldo Stroher Neto was found guilty of qualified homicide for futile reasons, and Maria Liciane Stroher was also a fatal victim of the violence.
The crime, which occurred on the farm where the family lived, left deep scars on the victims’ relatives. According to reports, the family is still dealing with the pain of losing their patriarch, who died the year before the crime, immersed in sadness over the situation.
The accused, described as difficult to deal with and prone to confrontation, took extreme measures after an argument that, to the family, seemed trivial. The result was a tragedy that killed two beloved family members.
The victims, Lucas Rieth Bitello and Maria Liciane Stroher, were described as peaceful people and dedicated to their family. Lucas even paid for Arnoldo to take part in a public examination, in which both were approved. His death was a blow to the family, who still remember their joy and generosity today.
