Strong images: video shows murder of Miss Ecuador

A young 23-year-old model, former Miss Ecuador candidate, was shot dead last Sunday (28/4), inside a restaurant in Quito. Images circulating on the internet show Landy Párraga talking to a man, who would be her boyfriend, when armed criminals invade the place and shoot her.

At the time of the attack, the two enter the establishment shooting at the victim. One of them even points at the victim’s companion, but then focuses the shots on her again. The same was done by the accomplice.

Even with Landy Párraga already on the ground, the criminals continue firing their weapons and then leave the scene, leaving the model lying on the ground. They wore masks and caps. Moments before she was killed, she had posted a photo at the establishment.

According to G1, the young woman, who was once elected vice-queen of beauty in Quevedo, the city where the crime took place, was mentioned during conversations between drug traffickers monitored by the Public Ministry. The agents were investigating a network of corruption and drug trafficking in State institutions.

The girl’s name appeared in message exchanges obtained from the cell phone of Ecuadorian drug trafficker Leandro Norero, who died two years ago in a prison in the center of the Andean Mountains.

According to the portal, the case was called Metastasis and prosecuted more than 50 people for a plan to hand over money to judicial officials in exchange for decisions favorable to Norero and his family. Senior officials from the Judiciary and police, prison guards and lawyers would be involved in the scheme.
