A woman died after being hit by a car that entered the shoulder, on the TO-030 highway, in the district of Taquaruçu in Palmas. She and her boyfriend had stopped to help a motorcyclist, who had fallen minutes before, when they were hit.
The driver was arrested for culpable homicide in traffic and culpable bodily injury in traffic. His name was not given and the g1 he couldn’t make contact with his defense.
The woman, identified as Rayane Santos Gomes, 28 years old, was riding on the back of the motorcycle with her boyfriend, Daniel Barbosa Martins. She died at the scene and Daniel was taken to Palmas General Hospital by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) in serious condition.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the driver collided with the car into two motorcycles, hitting three people. The third victim, Jordan Sirqueira Sousa, told the g1 that he had fallen off his motorcycle in the same place minutes before and that the couple had stopped to help him.
The State Department of Health (SES) reported that Daniel remains under the care of the unit’s multidisciplinary team. Jorgan Siqueira has already been discharged.
According to the SSP, forensic experts were at the scene and the case will be investigated by the Traffic Crimes Repression Police Station (DRCT – Palmas).
The driver was taken to the Palmas Prison Unit, where he remains at the disposal of the Judiciary.
Rayane’s body was recognized by family members and released from the Legal Medical Institute (IML). The wake takes place at her mother’s house in Jardim Aeroporto.
