Lost on a trip for two, we found them before our next destination

-

We are lost, but not alone. Just as Inês and Marcos are lost in the beauty of the world they have been traveling for five years, always together. This couple is also known as Lost Together, the name of the Instagram page they created in July 2021, with a debut setting that is familiar to us: Aldeias Do Xisto.

Inês and Marcos met in 2017 at Queima das Fitas in Porto through a mutual friend (there is always an accomplice at the beginning of a romance) and love grew between them. twoalthough before that they both already had a passion: traveling.

“We liked to travel and we started to gain a taste for photography, so we decided to combine the two passions and started the Instagram account in July 2021”, they tell VERSA.

The account was fed with trips they took in their free time, while at the same time they dedicated themselves to the professions they full-time: she as a cardiopneumology technician and he as an electrical and computer engineer.

This double life continues, however, in between the couple decided to embark on an adventure.

“In 2023 we decided to leave everything behind, and we fulfilled a dream of traveling around Southeast Asia with no defined return date. We returned to Portugal at the end of 2023 and at the beginning of 2024 we returned to work in our field. We currently reconcile our work with our greatest passion, traveling”, they say.

Never forget your first trip

2019, Barcelona.

They say that the first times are never forgotten and that is also the case with the first trip to two. For Inês and Marcos, the destination was Barcelona, remarkable not only for the moments lived.

“Then we realized that our travel style was the same and that we had fun taking photos. The preparation [na altura] It was the same thing we continue to do today: we research very well about the destination we are going to, plan a flexible itinerary and then just go on the adventure”, says the couple.

As they say, from then to the trips they make today, almost nothing has changed. “The style is the same: going with an open mind to discover new realities, cultures and ways of living. Today we realize how wonderful the world is and there is nothing like traveling to discover it.”

Southeast Asia: the one-way ticket of no return

Not all of us have the luxury of taking a trip with a one-way ticket. This is because responsibilities and people are often left behind that we cannot abandon, but Inês and Marcos had that opportunity and, fortunately, the two.

“There is nothing better than sharing how we feel with our better half. While we travel, meanings and thoughts emerge that we like to share with those closest to us”, they comment.

But it’s not just those closest to us that “Lost Together” share their adventures with. They also do this with their followers, who have access to memorable moments and experiences, like those the couple lived in Southeast Asia.

“We had contact with a culture completely different from ours, we got to know incredible places, good cuisine and we were very well received by everyone. We can say that, taking this into account, Indonesia was the country that conquered us”, they say.

It’s not just about influencing

Today we talk about digital influencers, from fashion to travel, a section which includes Lost Together, with more than 28 thousand followers. Images come to this community from all corners of the world – from Bali, Vietnam, Thailand, our Douro and even Rome, a destination that has gone viral.

“Until this last trip [referência ao Sudeste Asiático]the most successful publications were a photo and a reels In Rome. We loved this content and we think we managed to capture the essence of the place well. Furthermore, Rome is one of the most visited destinations in the world, making it easier to reach for many people.”

The image is, of course, the first to win over those who visit Lost Together on Instagram, and although there is rigorous planning, that is not the biggest challenge.

“We arrived at a place and figured out the best angle, decided on the pose and took the photo. For us there is no better way to learn than through trial and error. Now we create more and better content in less time than when we started. The biggest challenge is Instagram itself. Nowadays it is not as easy to reach as many people as when we started. Furthermore, the time and effort we spend sharing content is undoubtedly what demands the most from us”.

This is because each publication is not just a photograph, it is also a detailed sharing of what is seen in it, which is the factor that, for twodifferentiates the Lost Together project.

“In each destination we visit, we try to share tips and information that may be useful to future travelers. How to get there, the best way to get around, what to do at each destination, where to eat, are some of the information we share with our community. In this way, we try to make it easier to prepare your own trips. And we love doing it.”

Taking advantage of the celebration of 2 years of VERSA, two is the destination to follow for a quiz for travelers who get lost together on trips:

Two destinations: Indonesia and Vietnam.

Two reasons to travel: the world is incredible, and not exploring it is a huge waste. It’s the best way to expand horizons.

Two items that cannot be missing from your suitcase: camera and tripod.

Two celebrities: hardest question. We can’t think of anyone we’d love to travel with other than the two of us.
