China rejects US position on Taiwan

Latin Press – China rejected this Saturday (4) the United States’ position on Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly and condemned Washington’s interference in its internal affairs.

Spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, reiterated the Asian nation’s approach to the island’s participation in World Health Organization activities and insisted on the “one China” principle as the fundamental basis, as established by international resolutions.

“Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly is viable, but the Democratic Progressive Party authorities, with the intention of seeking independence, deliberately politicize the health issue” with the help of external forces, he highlighted.

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed the North American country’s strong support for inviting this island region as an observer at this year’s World Health Assembly.

Beijing accused Washington of saying one thing and doing another and urged it not to accept separatist activities.

China recently accused Washington of exaggerating the supposed military threat and fanning the bellicose mood across the Taiwan Strait to meddle in the Asian giant’s internal affairs.

“If the United States government truly wants to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it should stop stirring up waters and take concrete measures to uphold the one-China principle,” the spokesperson said.
