About BAKI

The manga Baki is the creation of Keisuke Itagaki (Paru Itagaki’s father, from BEASTARS), published on the pages of Shonen Champion since 1991. The first series ended in 1999, bringing together 42 bound volumes, but the sum of its sequences and derivatives exceeds 140 volumes, making the title one of the most extensive works of Japanese comics.

The chronology of the series is as follows: Grappler Baki (42 volumes, 1991-1999), Baki (31 volumes, 1999-2005), Baki Hanma (37 volumes, 2006-2012), Baki-Dou (22 volumes, 2014-2018) and Bakidou (15 volumes, 2018-2023) — not counting specials and spin-offs.

The manga has already been adapted into an anime a few times: the first series was a 24-episode adaptation by Group TAC (Flint, The Time Detective) released in 2001, which also had a sequence of 24 episodes in the same year. In 2016, with the animation of TMS, there was a 15-minute OVA. Netflix has two animations: Baki – The Champion (2018), two seasons totaling 39 episodes, and Baki Hanma (2021), with another 39 episodes.

In addition to the aforementioned animations, an OVA came out in 1994, which was released in Brazil. With the title here of The Last Fightthe anime was only released on VHS in the 1990s, with dubbing done by Audio News (Yu Yu Hakusho, Ultraman Tiga).

About Kengan Ashura

The original manga was published between 2012 and 2018 in the Japanese magazine Ura Sunday (a kind of spin-off of the famous Shonen Sunday), written by the duo Yabako Sandrovich (history) and Daromeon (comic book), bringing together 26 volumes and an extra edition.

A sequence, called Kengan Omegabegan to be published in January 2019 by the same magazine, with simultaneous publication in Portuguese by Comikeywith 16 volumes.

The series follows men who become gladiators and participate in unarmed hand-to-hand combat, representing large traders or corporations.

In this extremely violent environment that has secretly existed since feudal times, Ouma Tokita, nicknamed Ashura, is a man of unusual strength and skills, who drives history by being manipulated in disputes called Kengan Matches.

With studio animation Larx Entertainment, Kengan Ashura premiered on Netflix in 2019, with dubbed and subtitled options. The anime team is directed by Seiji Kishi and character design Kazuaki Morita – both worked in Assassination Classroom.
