Although still far from the prices of other times, the truth is that fossil fuels, such as gasoline and diesel, maintain the trend that all of us consumers want – downward. At the start of another week, another price cut.

After the two cents drop recorded at the beginning of last week, gasoline and diesel are expected to appear at gas stations this Monday, with a new price cut. This time, approximately two cents more, compared to the last commercial value.

According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Energy and Geology, from this Monday onwards, simple diesel fuel is expected to have a retail price of €1,567 per liter, the result of a drop of two cents in price compared to last week, while simple 95-octane gasoline is expected to have a reference price of €1.779/liter, the result of a 2.5 cent drop in what was last week’s price.

It should be noted that the prices now announced already include not only the discounts in force on the different brands of fuel, but also state support aimed at mitigating the increase in fuel prices. Which, remember, despite the entry into office of a new Government, have not been updated since October 2023.

However, because this is a liberalized sector, it is also important to note that the prices now foreseen are still merely indicative and may differ from the values set by resellers and brands.

Finally, it is also worth remembering that, despite the drops in recent weeks, 1 liter of simple gasoline remains, at the moment, 16.5 cents more expensive than at the beginning of the year, while a liter of simple diesel remains 2.4 cents higher.
