The family of Amanda Eloá Gonçalves Sorrilha, aged 8, has already been interviewed at the police station about the girl’s death, after a eucalyptus log fell on her on April 23 in Amambai, a city 351 km from Campo Grande.
The mother, as well as the stepfather have already given statements, as well as the teenage brothers, who witnessed the case. They underwent special listening, as they were minors.
As what occurred was a violent death, the child’s body was sent to the IML (Legal Medical Institute).
The delegate responsible for the case, Alana Tissia, reported that the family has no history of mistreatment, much less against Amanda, it was even reported to the Guardianship Council and there is no record of mistreatment.
According to the delegate, there are some contradictions in the statements, but it has not yet been closed. “It could really have been a serious accident, but we are still waiting for the reports to conclude the case,” she said.
Farm accident
Amanda was hit by a eucalyptus log. The accident happened around 10 am. Amanda’s mother called the nurses at the city’s Regional Hospital reporting that the girl had suffered an accident, as a eucalyptus log fell on the child in a farm area close to ‘Chorro’. Her stepfather was the one who worked on the farm.
A hospital nurse called the Civil Police reporting that the girl was admitted to the unit after death. He instructed the mother to call the police to take appropriate action, at which point she fled the hospital in a pickup truck, according to police records.
Afterwards, Amanda’s family went to the hospital and claimed that the mother ran away to look for her other daughter.
