Rio Grande do Sul is in a situation of public calamity due to heavy rains that have been hitting the state since last week. Even in the face of tragedy, residents are still victims of the actions of criminals. In recent days, individuals have invaded markets, stores and pharmacies and taken products from the shelves. More than 80 people lost their lives and more than 100 are missing.

VIOLENCE: In the city of Arroio do Meio, a man was killed after being hit with a skewer used on barbecue grills. Mayor Danilo Bruxel (PP), said he had notified the Military Brigade Tactical Force to reinforce security in the municipality. In Lajedo, another person was shot and taken to a hospital.

In Porto Alegre, several businesses were also invaded. A Grêmio product store, located in the club’s arena, was looted on Saturday (4). In Canoas, armed men on boats and jet skis have robbed abandoned houses. Furthermore, scammers take advantage of the situation and divert donations sent to Gauchos. Governor Eduardo Leite (PSDB) lamented and said that “in the midst of so much solidarity, there are profiteers who use people’s sensitivity.”
