Today, the CDU candidacy denounced the scandalous rises in the prices of essential goods, which lead to increased difficulties and worsening inequalities experienced by thousands of families in the Region.
Herlanda Amado, in an initiative in Funchal, stated that “the sacrifices that many people face are dramatic, meaning that many were unable to guarantee the minimum on the table to be able to eat”.
Every day, “anyone who goes to a supermarket is faced with a price on the shelf and the next day with an even higher one, reaching the point where a simple bottle of olive oil is already considered a ‘luxury good’, compared to a 750ml bottle from around 4 euros to 8 euros”, he said.
“Not to mention the increase in pasta or rice, which any supermarket chain has, the so-called ‘white brand’ products, but not even those are ‘cheap’ anymore, in some cases being superior to those of the brands implemented in the market”, he considered. In Herlanda Amado’s opinion, it is possible to guarantee a change that gives Madeirans and Porto Santos back the right to live better in Madeira.
“Enough with injustices, enough with worsening inequalities and difficulties”, he pointed out.
