Estudiantes player is arrested for drunk driving and causing an accident after title

Estudiantes de La Plata player Tiago Palacios was arrested after crashing his car into a gas station pump in Buenos Aires, causing minor injuries to two people. The breathalyzer test revealed that he was drunk, according to information from the Argentine press published by “O Globo”.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan nationalized Argentine had become champion hours before the Argentine League Cup. He emerged unharmed from the accident and will remain detained at the Highways Police Station on charges of “minor injuries due to negligence” and “driving under the influence of alcohol”. Palacios arrived at Estudiantes de La Plata this year from Montevideo City Torque. He also played in the under-23 pre-Olympic tournament with Uruguay. Estudiantes won the title after beating Vélez Sarsfield on penalties in Santiago del Estero.
