Criminals set fire to car after attempted murder in Teófilo Otoni

A man was shot in the São Jacinto neighborhood, on Sunday night (05), in Teófilo Otoni.

According to the Military Police, bandits arrived in a vehicle and shot the victim several times.

Even though he was injured, the man managed to run to MGC-418, where he fell injured. He was rescued and taken to Santa Rosália Hospital. His health status was not disclosed.

After the attempted murder, the criminals were pursued by the police, abandoned the car used in the crime in the community of Morro do Eucalipto, located in the Manoel Pimenta neighborhood and set fire to the car, to gain more time and escape. (See video above)

“They set the vehicle on fire to avoid encountering the police officers who were chasing them. The military had to stop to help residents close to the fire site and call the Fire Department. These are actions that the police have to take in this type of incident” , said aspirant Josimar de Oliveira.”

So far, no one has been arrested.

Exchange of gunfire between criminals and man killed in confrontation with police

On Saturday (04), a gang with 10 suspects tried to invade Morro do Eucalipto. They were in two cars, but were unable to enter the neighborhood, as there was a clash with the local faction.

The men abandoned their vehicles in the São Benedito neighborhood, but three of them were caught by the police. There was an exchange of shots.

One of the suspects, identified as one of the drug kingpins in the region, died in the confrontation with the police. Two other men were arrested.

From them, the PM learned weapons, eighty rounds of 38 and nine millimeter ammunition, two kilos of drugs, money and even a grenade.

The fight between rival factions has terrified residents of some neighborhoods in Teófilo Otoni.
