Folha do Estado | 16 years after daughter’s murder, Alexandre Nardoni leaves prison

On the morning of this Monday, 05/06, the São Paulo Court ordered the release of Alexandre Nardoni from the prison in Tremembé, in the interior of São Paulo, where he had been serving a sentence since 2008 for the murder of his daughter, Isabella Nardoni.

The decision, published today, authorized Nardoni to serve the remainder of his 31-year sentence in an open regime.

The accused was released at around 5:20 pm, according to information from the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (SAP). Progression to the open regime was requested by Nardoni’s defense, despite the initially unfavorable opinion from the Public Ministry.

Judge José Loureiro Sobrinho, responsible for the case, considered that Nardoni maintains good conduct in prison, has served more than half of his sentence and has regularly attended temporary releases since 2019, when he obtained the benefit of the semi-open regime.

As determined by the magistrate, the defendant must serve the remainder of his sentence at home, appearing at the Criminal Execution Court every three months. Furthermore, Nardoni will have to remain at home from 8pm to 6am, only being able to leave to work, and his presence in places such as bars and gaming houses will be prohibited.

The Isabella Nardoni case shocked the country in 2008, when the 5-year-old girl was found dead after being thrown from the window of the apartment where her father lived with his wife, Anna Jatobá. The couple was convicted of the crime, even though they initially claimed that it was an intruder in the apartment.

Anna Carolina Jatobá, Nardoni’s then wife, also progressed to the open regime and was released in June 2023. The case generated great repercussion and debates about domestic violence and crimes against children.

Despite the court decision, prosecutor Luiz Marcelo Negrini expressed concern, arguing that Nardoni does not admit responsibility for the crime and arguing that the defendant should undergo further evaluation before being released.
