The Met Gala 2024 takes place on Monday night (06.05). For the fourth year in a row, the North American edition of Vogue presents the exclusive live broadcast of the event, where you can watch all the action from the red carpet in real time.
This year, the live broadcast is hosted by actress Gwendoline Christie, producer and actress La La Anthony and model Ashley Graham. What is the theme of this year’s Met Gala?
The 2024 Met Gala celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute’s new spring exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The exhibition — which will be on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 10 to September 2 this year — highlights 250 items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, including some rarely seen in public before. All works are displayed in completely new ways – using elements such as video animation, CGI, AI and more.
Each year, the Met Gala provides the Costume Institute with its primary source of funding for exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, operations and improvements.
Is there a dress code?
The dress code for the Met Gala 2024 will be “The Garden of Time” [“O Jardim do Tempo”]. The dress code is inspired by a short story with the same title, written by JG Balard in 1962.
Who are this year’s co-hosts?
Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny and Anna Wintour will co-host the evening. Meanwhile, honorary hosts are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Chew.
