To try to contain the reality that is increasingly adverse to him about the genocide he commits in Gaza, Israel press the U.S on the political side and the Western press on the communication side.

As none of this is working — protests are increasing and spreading across the world, with people demanding an immediate ceasefire and even the creation of a free Palestinian state — Israel has taken a further step and has now closed Al Jazeera in Israel and banned the broadcast of his reports in the country.

It was not enough to murder almost 140 Palestinian journalists during this period, Israel decided to silence journalism free from its ties and Western control.

At the Perugia International Journalism Festival, held in April in Italy, the spokeswoman for the Palestinian Journalists Union, Shuruq As’adreports the daily lives of journalists in Gaza, under attacks from Israel:

“What our colleagues in Gaza, and even us in the West Bank, face is not new. Since the first day of the occupation, we have been directly attacked by Israel, with journalists being assaulted or humiliated at checkpoints, or having their offices raided and equipment demolished. But, after October 7th, there is a huge increase. Now, in Gaza, almost one journalist dies every day. The main challenge is to stay alive: so far, 130 have already lost their lives. one from AFP, one from Reuters and from Arab and local TV channels. We had 100 journalists arrested, and 40 are still in prison or administrative detention, without any court or permission to receive the union or their lawyers. and several receive threats. Others were injured and lost their lives because Israel did not allow them to leave Gaza. Many are displaced, some for the fifth or sixth time. They live in tents made by hand, made from wood and nylon. They lack the basics to live, such as food, water, blankets, internet, electricity and gasoline. They move on foot or in carts pulled by donkeys. They are traumatized.” [O Globo]

This Sunday, the 5th, the Netanyahu government voted in favor of ending the transmission of Al Jazeera, the Qatari television station, in Israel due to its coverage during the Gaza war.

The law, proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, grants Karhi the ability to ban the channel from operating for 45 days.

The government authorized Karhi to order the cessation of the channel’s broadcasts in Israel, in Arabic and English; close its offices in Israel; confiscate equipment used by its personnel, except telephones and computers; and limit Israel’s access to the network’s website.

The opinion of the Shin Bet security service is that the channel’s transmissions harm state security, a condition required for closure, according to the law approved in April. The opinions of Mossad, the Israeli army and military censorship did not include such a statement, but supported restricting broadcasts.

The journalist and member of the editorial board of Haaretz, the most traditional Israeli newspaper, Gideon Levycomments on the closure of Al Jaazera:
