Expertise points to old injuries and death from child beating in Vinhedo; father and stepmother are arrested | Campinas and Region

The child found dead in a property in Parque das Paineiras, in Vinhedo (SP), this Monday (6), had old injuries that indicated torture practices. The information was released by the Civil Police. Father and stepmother of Gustavo Henrique Cardoso, 7, were arrested and will be charged with murder and torture.

According to the delegate responsible for the case, the initial examination of the body indicated that the probable cause of death was beating.

“There are old injuries, signs of binding, injuries to the leg, back”, highlighted Denise Florêncio Margarido.

According to the Civil Police, Pedro Vitor Joseph do Prado and Camila Luiz Gomes da Silva, both 26 years old, are the main suspects.

The man would have asked his sister, who is a nursing technician, for help in the early hours of the morning. The woman told the police that she saw the boy suffocating and tried to revive him, but to no avail.

As a result, Pedro Vitor would have kept her and her mother in private prison while they fled the scene of the crime.

“She states that her brother became very nervous, and she and her mother were locked up, without their cell phone. When they realized that the couple was no longer in the house, they managed to escape and went straight to the police station”, highlighted Denise.

There is no information about the wake and burial of the child’s body.

Father and stepmother are arrested on suspicion of killing a child with signs of torture in Vinhedo

The father and stepmother of the dead boy with signs of torture were located and arrested on Rodovia Miguel Melhado de Campos (SP-332), between Vinhedo and Campinas. The father was in a car, and the stepmother was on a motorcycle. Residents of the region tried to lynch the couple.

They were taken to the city police station. When they arrived at the Vinhedo police district, the father only said that “it wasn’t him”.

The case was registered as homicide and torture at the Vinhedo Police Station”, the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) said in a statement.

Family members informed EPTV, a TV Globo affiliate, that the boy was raised by his aunts, since his father served five years in prison for the crime of robbery. The boy would have been abandoned by his mother.

The child would have returned to live with his father about a year ago. According to family members, the stepmother mistreated her stepson out of jealousy.
