Hanoi – Last week, the price of Vietnamese rice on the world market increased from 3 to 8 dollars per ton. This increase helped the Southeast Asian country return to first place in terms of rice export prices.

The price of 5% split rice in Vietnam has now reached $585 (Rs 9.3 million) per ton. This value is US$3 per ton and US$10 per ton higher than the same type of rice in Thailand.

According to a newspaper report on Sunday, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 25% broken rice and 100% broken rice in Vietnam cost US$555 or US$8.8 million and US$470 (Rs .7.5 million) per ton, respectively.
Vietnam itself generated $2.08 billion (32.1 billion rupiah) in revenue in the first four months of this year.

“Since the first export of 3.23 million tons of rice, compared to the same period last year, it has increased by 36.5 percent in terms of value and 11.7 percent,” reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Development Rural Vietnam.

Vietnam’s rice production is also expected to reach 43 million tons in 2024, which can guarantee domestic consumption and satisfy export demand of more than 8 million tons, the ministry said.
