South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Donald Trump’s possible running mate in 2024, said that Biden’s German shepherd, Commander, should suffer a similar fate to that of her dog for biting several Secret Service agents.
“His comments yesterday seem worrying and absurd to us,” said White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre. “This is a country that loves dogs and we have a leader talking about euthanizing them,” she added. For the spokesperson, Noem “should probably stop digging the hole she’s burying herself in.”
The 52-year-old governor caused outrage in the United States when she stated in her memoirs that she shot Cricket, who was just over a year old, and that she killed her because she was “indomitable”.
“I hated that bitch,” he said. Her anger towards the animal was due to the fact that Cricket ruined a pheasant hunt because she was overly excited. Noem also blamed her for the deaths of chickens.
The governor claims that, if she reaches the White House with Trump in the November elections, she will have “Commander meet with Cricket”.
“Joe Biden’s dog has already attacked 24 people from the Secret Service. How many people will he have to attack and seriously injure before a decision is made about a dog?”, asked Noem on a CBS program on Sunday.
Commander was sent to live with Biden’s family after the two-year-old German shepherd, who arrived at the White House in 2021 as a small dog, had trouble adapting and bit at least 11 Secret Service agents.
This isn’t the only part of Noem’s new book that has provoked discomfort. She was forced to retract her claim that she had met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
