In April, the first official month of the 2024/25 season, ethanol prices registered strong increases in the spot market in the state of São Paulo.
According to researchers from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at Esalq/USP, given a scenario of the start of agricultural and industrial activities, the supply of biofuel was low throughout the month.
In the busy weeks of April, the average Cepea/Esalq indicator for hydrated ethanol was R$ 2.3621 per liter, a significant increase of 10.1% compared to the previous period.
For anhydrous, considering only spot, the average was R$ 2.6951 per liter, an increase of 12.3% in the same comparison.
In relation to April 2023, Cepea calculations show that the anhydrous and hydrated indicators were still below 15.4% and 16.7%, in that order, in real terms – values deflated by the IGP-M of April 2024 .
