Judge orders husband of cattle rancher involved in double murder in Peixoto released | VGN

The judge of the 2nd Court of the District of Peixoto de Azevedo, 621 km from Cuiabá, Paula Tathiana Pinheiro, granted provisional freedom to Márcio Ferreira Gonçalves, detained on charges of participating in the double murder, led by his wife, cattle rancher Inês Gemilaki, on April 21, at a residence in Peixoto.

Márcio had the arrest warrant served on April 22, at his ex-wife’s residence, in the municipality of Alta Floresta, 791 km from Cuiabá. During the custody hearing, Márcio even denied participating in the crime, claiming that he was confused with his brother.

According to the decision handed down this Monday (06.05), Gonçalves’ defense claimed that the preventive detention was wrongly ordered, since the criminal who appears in the local security camera images is not Márcio, but his brother Eder.

The images were thoroughly investigated and there was no fourth person involved in the criminal action that killed two elderly people, Pilson Pereira da Silva, 80 years old, and Rui Luiz Bolgo, 68 years old.

The magistrate highlighted in her decision that there was not enough evidence of the suspect’s responsibility, and accepted the request to revoke the arrest, granting Márcio Ferreira Gonçalves provisional freedom.
