The biggest world music event starts today on RTP. Iolanda performs in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 but there is controversy at the event.

Yolanda plays in the first Semifinal, which will also include representatives from Croatia, Cyprus, Republic of Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia, Ukraine, Australia, Azerbaijan, Finland, Iceland, Luxembourg, Moldova and Slovenia. The song “Grito” is in 14th place.
The 68th edition of the event takes place in Sweden, in Mälmo, following Loreen’s victory last year, curiously in time for the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s Eurovision victory. But this edition is also shrouded in controversy.
The controversy surrounding the festival
The conflict between Israel and Hamas has spread to the sphere of culture and political messages are very present in Eurovision, or at least they were. The organization forced the Israeli representative to change the lyrics of the song, which made references to the conflict. Likewise, Palestinian flags were also banned.
