Porto Alegre City Hall, in response to the flooding affecting the city, implemented a new service channel on WhatsApp 156 to speed up communication with victims. From Saturday afternoon (4), option number 1 on the main menu offers specific assistance for life-threatening emergencies, connecting citizens directly with a human attendant.

By calling number 1, the resident will have immediate contact with a trained attendant to collect information about the situation and immediately forward it to the Municipal Civil Defense. This measure aims to facilitate communication and speed up eventual rescues, especially in cases that put lives at risk.

At this time of climate crisis, Porto Alegre City Hall reinforces the importance of using WhatsApp 156 for flood-related emergencies. For other types of requests, such as tree pruning, water services and others, citizens can use 156 through the city hall website or the 156+Poa app.

The implementation of the new 156 WhatsApp service channel demonstrates Porto Alegre City Hall’s commitment to ensuring the safety of the population during the flood. The measure facilitates access to help in critical moments and contributes to the quick and effective response of rescue teams.
