The Huawei Watch Fit 3 is an elegant solution for those who want a fashion accessory that can also display notifications, but without neglecting health monitoring features.

I’m not the biggest fan of smartwatches that cost hundreds of euros. Are they bad products? None of that, simply because my style of use does not require such an expensive and complex device, as I only need some “more basic” functions.

And like me, millions of users around the world prefer to use a smartband instead of a smartwatch. What if there was a middle ground between the two? It really was gold on blue. Well, know that this really exists, and a good example is the new Huawei Watch Fit 3, which has just been announced by the Chinese manufacturer. And before continuing with this review, you should know that this new Huawei product adapted very well to my style of use.

This Huawei Watch Fit 3 is the brand’s first square smartwatch, inspired by the ‘Fashion Squared’ concept, which aims to meet the tastes of younger and more modern users. Sleek, slim and modern, the third generation HUAWEI Watch Fit Series stands out with its new design as well as comprehensive health and wellness monitoring features. Furthermore, the ‘Fashion Squared’ concept, which characterizes this product, reflects a sophisticated mix of design and intelligent features. It allows Huawei to highlight its ‘Fashion Forward’ philosophy, which consists of creating stylish wearables, bringing fashion to square devices.

In terms of features, this Huawei Watch Fit 3 has a 1.82-inch AMOLED screen, heart rate sensor, SpO2 and stress monitoring, as well as support for more than 100 sports modes.

As already revealed, this Huawei Watch Fit 3 has a square body. The similarities with the Apple Watch There are more than many, but its red rotating crown gives it a premium touch. Below the crown we have a function button with a small note which, in the case of the model tested, is in red (moon white), just like the rotary button. Its bezels are impressively thin on all four sides. It is quite compact and is very well positioned between a smartwatch and a smartband. Huawei equipped it with a single flat button on the right side, a touch screen and the rotating crown that helps with navigation between the device’s menus. HarmonyOSwhich appears here in version 4.2.0.

It is an extremely light and comfortable device. On its back we have the health sensors and two pins for the proprietary charger. That’s right, the Watch Fit 3 doesn’t support wireless charging, which means you need to use a charger with a cable to do so. Huawei has once again decided to opt for a magnetic option that works well – charging is very fast and its autonomy is brutal (I talk more about autonomy below).

As already mentioned, this Huawei Watch Fit 3 uses Harmony OS 4.2.0, which comes with great new features, if for example compared to version 2.0, which equips the Watch Fit 2. This system is adapted for your square screen and, this time, your menu is not just a list, since we have several windows with their different functionalities. It’s a really modern and intuitive design. The most impressive thing, however, is that, in addition to being beautiful and functional, this operating system is actually very fast… probably the fastest I’ve used in this type of product.

For better communication with our smartphone, we must use the application Huawei Health, which is increasingly complete. The application is not available on Google Play, so we must download it from Huawei’s official website. And as always, after installing it, we receive the update to the latest version suitable for our device.

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 has more than 100 sports modes, which is more than those available on the Watch Fit 2, and the same number on the Huawei Band 8, with the great advantage that we have GPS, something that doesn’t happen on Band. This GPS allows us to track a run, a bike ride, a walk, etc., without having to use any smartphone.

Notification delivery is very good, being easy to manage and navigate. Additionally, the Watch Fit 3 comes with weather updates (which are synchronized with your smartphone), sunrise and sunset times, and moon phases.

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 has a 400mAh battery, a very significant upgrade compared to its predecessor, as it has a 292mAh battery. With this battery, the company promises to last up to 10 days on a single charge, but with Always-on-Display disabled and some monitoring features disabled. With my use, I got 8 days of use on a single charge, which is really excellent, considering that I kept all available resources active.

The proprietary charging cable comes in the box, with a USB plug on the other end. A 50% charge takes 25 minutes, while 0-100% takes just over an hour.

Final verdict Huawei Watch Fit 3

Huawei offers the Watch Fit 3 as a stylish solution for those who want a fashion accessory that can also display notifications, but without neglecting health monitoring features. And I confess that it was the wearable that best adapted to my needs to this day.

It has some audible fitness animations that appear as we exercise with it. Its GPS is reliable enough for any user who enjoys walking, cycling or running outdoors.

We are talking about a product that has a market value well below what a good smartwatch costs, as it was announced by €159and that in my way of use it fits like a glove.
