Tourist killed in Santa Teresa was traveling alone in Brazil

The Israeli woman who died in Rio de Janeiro was traveling alone in Brazil, according to an employee at a hostel in Salvador. Alma Bohadana’s body was found on Monday night (6) on Rua Almirante Alexandrino, in Santa Teresa, in the central region of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

In Rio about ten days ago, Alma was returning from a trail with another foreigner when, according to his report to the police, he was scared by a motorbike, ran and fell in a forested area. The foreigner also said that they thought they were going to be robbed.

Before coming to Rio, she spent time in Bahia. According to employees, the young woman was smiling, only spoke English and was committed to learning the local culture.

“She was a loving person, she just smiled, sang and talked a lot. She even made a drawing on a wall in our hostel”, says the man.

During the three months she spent in Bahia, the young woman became friends with the employees.

“A beautiful soul, an artist, always smiling, radiant, talkative, very intelligent. She had learned to samba and shared a lot of her Israeli culture with me. Everyone in the hostel loved her and it was impossible to be different. She will stay here forever , with us, in the mandala that he painted with so much love in every detail”, says a woman, who was still in contact with the tourist.

“We are devastated and in shock, but we will try to keep smiling, grateful that she brought and immortalized her light here. Alma loved Brazil”, she adds.

According to the Military Police, she and another tourist were walking along the neighborhood street when they saw a motorcycle and thought they were going to be robbed.

One resident said he had just gotten off the bus when he heard the calls for help.

“I didn’t see how she fell, when I arrived she was already on the floor passed out. I tried to save her life, but I couldn’t”, says painter Márcio da Silva.

Firefighters were called, around 7pm, to help a woman who fell in a wooded area, from a height of around 15 meters.

The Military Police asked the Israeli Consulate for help.

The case is being investigated by the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), which does not rule out other hypotheses for the crash. Police are investigating whether a motorcycle passed by the scene.

Initially, the case was with the Tourist Support Police Station, where the foreigner who was with Alba gave a statement for the first time. This Tuesday (6), he was heard by DHC.
