The strike was scheduled after the company applied a salary increase of 5.89% and a new meal allowance of 6.78 euros, explained Sara Gligo, leader of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans), explained, in statements to the Lusa agency.

The increase occurred after workers rejected in plenary, on April 15, the value proposed by the company – a minimum of 60 euros – and an increase in the meal allowance to 7.30 euros, paid on a meal card.

The workers were already demanding an increase of 80 euros in their salary and a meal allowance of 10 euros in cash, and announced, at the time, that they were willing to go on strike.

According to Sara Gligo, the union informed the carrier about the rejection approved in plenary, thus seeking to reach a balanced value between the two parties.

However, two days later, said the union leader, the company released information stating that it would apply an increase of 5.89%, “which for some workers no longer represents 60 euros in salary”, and a meal allowance worth from 6.78 euros in cash.

This Thursday, the striking workers will meet in plenary from 10:30 am at the Cacilhas Volunteer Fire Department facilities.

The Lusa agency questioned the company about the matter, with the carrier stating that it had nothing to add.

TST serves the municipalities of Almada, Seixal and Sesimbra, in the district of Setúbal, and, according to the union leader, has a total of 900 workers.
