Molejo is preparing for a new chapter in its history, bringing not only new songs, but also the mark of its Anderson Leonardo, who died at the age of 51 last month. After the singer’s departure, the group states that it will honor his legacy, keeping alive the flame of joy and perseverance that has always characterized its trajectory. They intend to launch the project “Paparico do Molejo” in the second semester, which has already been recorded.

“Anderson always wanted to do ‘Paparico do Molejo’, he always encouraged us. Everything he had ideas for was based on the principle that it would be good. This is Molejo’s way of winning over the public again. No one can stop, until because he didn’t want us to stop”, said Andrezinho to “RJ2”.

The announcement of the release of the album “Paparico do Molejo” was made by Andrezinho, one of the group’s members, during Anderson Leonardo’s wake. According to Andrezinho, the new work will feature not only new songs, but also reinterpretations of Molejo classics, all with Anderson’s active and creative participation. The recordings took place during the vocalist’s treatment against inguinal cancer and included appearances by names such as Thiaguinho, Xande de Pilares and Dudu Nobre.

“He never let the ball fall. He taught us perseverance,” said Claumirzinho.

What type of cancer does Anderson do Molejo have?

The artist had been undergoing treatment for inguinal cancer since 2022, and underwent a long period of hospitalization. In January 2023, the tumor had gone into remission, however, in May, it was necessary to resume treatment.

The tumor, considered rare, most frequently affects men aged 50 or over, however it is not exclusive to this age group. According to the National Cancer Institute (Inca), the disease accounts for 5% of all cancer cases among men.
