Found dead inside her own home on Sunday (5), Cássia Vieira, aged 45, had a relationship of around 1 year with the main suspect of the crime, according to her family. She died from injuries caused by a piercing instrument in Bairro Martins, in Uberlândia, on Thursday (2).

According to family members, the victim was a reserved woman. Cássia worked as a hairdresser and provided home care for people from the city’s high society.

In the relationship, her ex-boyfriend spent days at her house and even left clothes at the property.

To her family, Cássia said that the relationship between them was good. However, friends said that on several occasions they advised her to end the relationship due to fights and aggressions.

The victim also constantly lent money to the suspect and bought things for him. His debt to the victim reached R$1,500, which Cássia asked him to pay.

About 1 month ago, the man told the woman he was married.

“She loved him, she asked him to end the marriage so they could be together,” said Cássia’s niece, who preferred to remain anonymous.

Still according to the family, as the suspect decided to maintain the marriage, Cássia decided to end the relationship, different from what the man told the PM when he said that he was responsible for the end. Since the end of the relationship, the woman asked her ex-boyfriend to pay the debt.

Days before the crime, the man spoke to the victim’s mother via video call on WhatsApp and promised that he would talk to Cássia personally and pay the debt.

“He had a nice face, I would never have imagined he would do something like that,” said the niece.

“I don’t think he killed her just because of the debt. There’s a lot of anger involved. If he was going there just to talk, why did he take a knife? I even think he has some prejudice because she’s a trans woman, the relationship theirs was only inside the house”, said the niece.

According to the Popular LGBTQIA+ Council of Uberlândia, since 2019 there have been no reports of murders of trans people in the city.

The neighbors called the police because Haven’t seen Cássia in a while three days. They did not hear movement in the house, but the electronic devices were on and the house was open.
