Reduced price cinema tickets between May 13th and 15th in Portugal | Movie theater

The more than 500 cinemas in mainland Portugal will host the Cinema Festival between the 13th and 15th of May, with ticket prices reduced to 3.5 euros, announced the Portuguese Association of Cinematographic Companies, responsible for the initiative.

“Among the more than 40 films of various genres and nationalities that can be seen on the 13th, 14th and 15th of May, with tickets priced at 3.5 euros, the Cinema Festival also celebrates national production”, reads a statement released this Wednesday.

Among the national films currently showing in cinemas are Cândido — The Spy Who Came From Footballby Jorge Paixão da Costa, the compilation Between Muros — Three Portuguese Short Filmsby Basil da Cunha, Inês Teixeira and Mónica Lima, Revolution (without) Bloodby Rui Pedro Sousa, The Buriti Flowerby Renée Nader Messora and João Salaviza, and Motherby João Brás.

In addition, the four films nominated for the Best Film category at the 2024 Sophia Awards will be rerun on those days: Great Yarmouth — Provisional Figuresby Marco Martins; Evil Livingby João Canijo; Brave Nation, by Carlos Conceição; It is I’m nothingby Edgar Pêra.

The return of these films to cinemas takes place within the scope of a partnership between Portuguese Association of Cinematographic Companies and the Portuguese Cinema Academy.

The Cinema Festival took place for the first time in 2015, having been interrupted in 2020 and 2021, due to the covid-19 pandemic. The initiative is supported by the Cinema and Audiovisual Institute, the Portuguese Association for the Defense of Audiovisual Works, the Association for the Collective Management of Copyright and Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers and the General Inspectorate of Cultural Activities.
