MP advances with accusations against driver involved in the accident that killed Claudisabel | Justice

The Setúbal Public Prosecutor’s Office charged the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident that killed the singer Claudisabel with the crimes of negligent homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The accused, a 50-year-old man, had a blood alcohol level of 1.95 g/l, which, in itself, is considered a crime and punishable by a prison sentence of up to one year, in addition to a fine. However, the investigation determined that there was evidence that it was the accused’s careless driving and failure to respect the safety distance, which resulted in the artist’s death, which led to a charge of negligent homicide.

The accident occurred between the two light vehicles on Highway 2 (A2), near Alcácer do Sal, in the early hours of December 19, 2022, with the car in which the artist was traveling overturning, forcing her extrication. The death of the artist, who died immediately, was declared at the scene by the doctor from the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) at Hospital do Litoral Alentejano, in Santiago do Cacém.

Claudisabel was the artistic name of Cláudia Isabel Leiria Madeira (b.1976, Faro), recognized as a singer of Portuguese popular music, a career she began at just 13 years old, with the release of her first album, You said, I thought. One of his biggest hits dates back to 1999, when he released I need a herohaving participated in the 2010 RTP da Canção Festival.
