What is known about the death of the Israeli tourist in Rio de Janeiro

Israeli tourist Alma Bohadana, 22 years old, was found dead on Monday (6/5), in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro. The young woman was traveling alone through Brazil and had been in Rio de Janeiro for 10 days. To the Mailthe Civil Police said that the investigation into the case is ongoing at the Capital Homicide Police Station.

Witnesses were interviewed and security camera footage is being analyzed. Civil police officers carry out investigations in order to clarify the facts and circumstances of the woman’s death. The Israeli tourist was returning from a hike with another foreigner when the two were approached by men on a motorcycle. Alma was reportedly scared and fell 15 meters into a forested area after jumping from a wall near the climb to Corcovado Hill.

According to the Rio newspaper The day, the man who accompanied Alma was interviewed by the Tourist Police Battalion. At first, the young man referred to Alma as his girlfriend and reported that they both ran after seeing a motorcycle approaching and thinking they were going to be robbed. Afterwards, the foreigner said that they were approached by a red van or car, but that they did not see any weapons.

In the third report to the police, the man stated that he met Alma in the hostel where they were staying and that the two were just friends.

The Fire Department was called after the fall, but when they arrived at the scene, the Israeli woman was already dead. Alma’s body was sent to the Instituto Médio Legal (IML).
