BMW do Brasil announced the arrival on the national market of the BMW 530e, a plug-in hybrid version, with a suggested price of R$574,950, completing the range of the 100% electric version.
The new BMW 530e has an average combined consumption of 27.3 km/l, according to Inmetro, and comes with a BMW Wallbox with a charging power of 7.4kW.
After the launch of the BMW i5, the BMW 530e arrives in Brazil. Its dimensions are the same as the BMW i5: 5.06 m long, 1.90 m wide, 1.51 m high and a wheelbase of 2.99 m.
Visually, the model is similar to the BMW i5 and comes standard with the M Sport design package. At the front, the main difference is in the grille, which has a brushed steel finish around its contour, as well as the BMW Iconic Glow, which illuminates the area.
LED elements inside the headlights, arranged almost vertically, serve as direction indicators and daytime running lights. The wheels are 20 inches.
Inside, the cockpit of the new BMW 530e follows the design adopted in the i5 version, with a significantly smaller number of buttons compared to the previous model. With a clean and futuristic design, the Shy Tech concept makes it possible to control the car’s functions by voice commands, gestures, touch or in the more traditional way, through the buttons on the central console.
The instrument panel and multimedia center are made up of the BMW Curved Display, a 12.3-inch curved screen behind the steering wheel and another 14.9-inch screen that acts as the multimedia center. The system makes driving much more pleasant. The smaller one, programmable in design and vehicle control items, is responsible for displaying information from the instrument panel, while the larger one acts as an entertainment system and is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto wirelessly.
The model is equipped with a 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder gasoline engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and, together with the highly integrated electric drive unit, generates a maximum power of 299 hp. With a maximum torque of 450 Nm, the new BMW 530e accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.
The maximum speed is 230 km/h and up to 140 km/h in all-electric mode. According to Inmetro, the BMW 530e has an equivalent fuel consumption in electric mode of 26.9 km/l in the city and 28.6 km/l on the highway, a combined average of 27.3 km/l. The model’s energy consumption is 0.73 MJ/km, one of the most efficient in the country.
Located in the lower part of the body, the BMW 530e’s battery, now larger compared to previous generations, has a usable energy capacity of 19.4 kWh and doubles the charging power, supporting 7.4 kW in alternating current chargers.
The launch will feature two high-power chargers, including a portable charger, the Flex Charger, with up to 11 kW and a BMW Wallbox with up to 22 kW to ensure the best charging experience at home and when traveling. The chargers have an international type-2 socket standard, compatible with all BMW vehicles. According to the PBEV cycle, the BMW 530e has a range of up to 61 kilometers in 100% electric mode.
Just like the BMW i5, the BMW 530e features the latest driving assistants from the BMW Group. The model is equipped with the Driving Assistant Professional system, which encompasses a series of assistants, such as adaptive travel speed control and Lane Keeping Assistant, which are capable of keeping the car on the road with extreme precision without interference from the driver, even in stop and go traffic jam situations.
With Parking Assistant Professional, the 530e parks 100% independently. There is no longer any need to even accelerate or brake. The driver simply activates the system and monitors the maneuvers on the multimedia system screen via the cameras or even with Remote Control Parking via the My BMW app. You can exit the vehicle comfortably before parking it in the desired space and with a By simply clicking on the app, the vehicle is parked easily and remotely in the parking space. There are also visual and audible alerts for cross-traffic conditions, risks of rear-end collisions, involuntary lane changes and frontal approach control and prevention, among other functions.
There is also the Digital Key Plus, a virtual key system, compatible with iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphones, which eliminates the need for a physical key and facilitates access to the car exclusively with your cell phone. The Digital Key Plus can also be shared with up to 5 people in a remotely, allowing enormous flexibility. The sound system of the new BMW 530e is designed by Harman Kardon and has 205 watts of power in 12 speakers spread throughout the cabin.
Equipped with the Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA), the 530e gained skills to interact in an even more natural way with its occupants, as the system allows voice interaction with the car itself in a natural way to activate various vehicle functions, such as for example, controlling climate, lights, media, experience modes and opening windows, transforming the interior environment according to the owner’s mood, all by voice. In addition to the Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA), the model has Alexa, which allows interaction with a second personal voice assistant inside the vehicle, enabling home automation and unique interactions between an external Alexa and the car.
The model is also compatible with the My BMW App. With it, it is possible to activate remote functions, such as locating the vehicle, locking and unlocking the car, turning on the headlights, and activating the car’s ventilation, and it is also possible to activate 3D View . Furthermore, with the My BMW App it is possible to check the status of the car, if any door or window is open, have information about the mileage, fuel level, necessary maintenance and services, locate and contact dealers, check message control, such as brake fluid, and also receive notifications with each remote software update (Remote Software Upgrade).
The new BMW 530e arrives in Brazil in 10 color options (Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Carbon Black, Sophisto Gray, Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Oxide Gray, Brooklyn Gray, Cape York Green and Fire Red) and four interior finish options Veganza (Black/Black, Espresso Brown/Black, Smoke White/Black and Burgundy/Black). All units arrive in Brazil with the free BSI program for a period of three years or 40,000 km (whichever comes first).
