Chosen as the best player in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich this Wednesday (8), at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, Brazilian number 7 Vinicius Junior celebrated the qualification merengue to the big decision of the continental tournament to face another German, this time Borussia Dortmund, on June 1st, at Wembley.

Protagonist for Real Madrid this season, Vinicius Junior shared the journey to the final with his teammates who remained injured for much of the season and who followed, while recovering, the team’s growth during the Champions League only from the stands.

The number 7 also praised the weight of the Real Madrid shirt within the continental competition. The Whites are looking for the 15th Champions League title in their history. This will also be the 18th time that Real will play in the final of Europe’s most important club tournament.

“Always (the long 90 minutes at the Bernabéu), but we put the biggest team in the world back in another final with a lot of teamwork. I said in other interviews that it’s the prize for Thibaut (Courtois), Militão, Alaba, who have been injured all season and we had to crown them by going to London. Every day we spoke to them, work because you will be back in the final with us and today we played for them, for our family, we played for the Bernabéu and we played for this shirt that always does incredible things again”said the Brazilian, in an interview with the channel TNT Sports.

Despite his spectacular performance, especially in the second half, Vinicius Junior reinforced the importance of the merengue group in pursuit of Real Madrid’s goals this season.

“I believe we have 25 protagonists in this team who all worked hard throughout the season to reach our goal, which was to go to London no matter what and win LaLiga. We’ve already won LaLiga, we’re in London, now we’re going to celebrate until Sunday (12), I think we have to go to Cibeles (Square) to celebrate (the Spanish title) together with our fans and give the award to all the players who do their best so that I can be in a good position to help them”highlighted the number 7, who also praised the other hero of the match, striker Joselu, scorer of the two winning goals.

“Today Joselu enters the game after 80 minutes and scores two goals and that is a reward for him too because he has always worked to do the best for the team, he never complained about sometimes not playing. This shows our group, which works hard and that I’ve never played in a group as united as this season”, said Vini.

With great performances, Vinicius Junior is definitely in the fight for the Ballon d’Or. The Brazilian, however, prefers to leave the matter in the background and aims to win the Champions League, which would be the second of his career.

“I have to say that I want to win another Champions League with this team, with this squad (…) so that I can do great things this season and then there’s everything with the Brazilian team. I always think about the squad, I always think about doing the better for my team and then for me. Sometimes everyone talks about the Ballon d’Or, but I’m very calm, if it has to be, it will be at the right time”concluded Vinicius.
