An insurance company received a photo sent by a customer of an allegedly damaged van. However, after becoming suspicious, the insurance company discovered the true image on the internet – with the vehicle intact, without any damage.

This is increasingly happening with the most diverse companies. According to insurers Allianz and Speedclear “Cases where apps were used to distort real-life images, videos and documents increased 300% from 2022 to 2023.”

According to the brands, image manipulations using artificial intelligence have “every sign that it will become the latest major scam to hit the insurance sector.”

From now on, insurers are expected to demand more evidence and access to the damaged vehicle – which could cause services in the near future to take longer.

According to the report, fraud could cause insurance prices to increase in the near future around the world.
