Americana City Hall (SP) confirmed, this Wednesday (8), the registration of the third death from dengue in the municipality in 2024. Earlier, Campinas announced the registration of another four deaths of residents from the disease. As a result, the total number of deaths from dengue in the year reached 44 in the region.

According to the municipal administration, the victim was a 45-year-old woman, who began showing symptoms of the disease on April 17, and died on the 19th. She lived in the Márcia Cristina neighborhood, and had a history of diabetes and sickle cell anemia.

The material was sent to the Adolfo Luz Institute, which confirmed the death due to type 1 dengue.
