The National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) began a series of inspections of aircraft operating in Fernando de Noronha. The work began on Tuesday (7) and by the end of this Wednesday afternoon (8) five planes were prevented from taking off on the island, three from Azul and two from the company Voepass.

After a new evaluation, Anac released two aircraft. When the island’s airport closed operations, late this Wednesday afternoon (8), three aircraft remained stuck on the airfield’s runway, two from Azul and one from Voepass.

The Anac team on the island did not grant an interview. The Agency informed, in a note, that it carries out planned and constant monitoring of the performance of products, companies, operations, processes and services and certified professionals.

“The aircraft required the verification of items for operational flight safety and the Agency advised the needs to be regularized. As soon as the companies make the necessary adjustments, the aircraft will return to operation and if the companies fail to comply with safety regulatory requirements, they will be fined”, informed the Anac note.

Passengers complained about lack of information

Passengers who were unable to continue their journey were outraged. Chambermaid Risolene da Silva has been trying to board since Tuesday (7).

“It’s better to tell the truth soon, they kept us waiting, anxious. Our family was worried, without us being able to leave the island. Everyone is locked up in Fernando de Noronha”, said Rolilene.

Hospital administrative supervisor Marcelo Valência, from São Paulo, has also been trying to leave Noronha since Tuesday (7).

“I don’t know when I’m going to leave, I’m desperate. This is absurd, we are trapped on the island. A lot of expense, the island is expensive and we have no information”, said Marcelo.

Influencer Raiane Silva, from Recife, was also unable to continue her trip. “I was inside the plane, they told me to leave. It’s revolting, everything is wrong, it’s not fair”, declared Raiane.

g1 contacted the two airlines to find out what the solution was for the problems identified and what support was given to passengers, but until the publication of this report there was no response.
